Founded in 1966, Evening Sun has always consisted of free-spirited Southern California musicians in the throws of their youth, yearning to write and play music.
Founding members are Tom Busk, Reuben Leder, Dennis Nolan, Phil Erenberg, Derek La Mar & Denise Cabral. Evening Sun's breakout appearance was headlining the outdoor concert in Will Rogers Park on the closing day of the 1967, 2nd Annual Watts Summer Festival. Muhammed Ali was the Grand Marshall.
After four years in Kenwood California with The Band of Thieves, Phil and bassist Bob Chernick found themselves back in Los Angeles. Phil opened up a recording studio inHollywood, Evening Sun Recorders where history unfolded having worked with the likes of Rickie Lee Jones, Harry Nilsson, Van Dyke Parks, Edmund Sylvers and Tyrone Downey.
Twenty three years later, Evening Sun has had a rebirth and reuniting of its original members Phil Erenberg and Dennis Nolan, plus the addition of Bob Chernick, now on vocals, and the talents of Dave Jenkins, Elizabeth Erenberg, and much, much more.
The music consists of the California spirit, all the complex layers of original Rock n' Roll, never forgetting to pay great homage to the roots of rhythm and blues.
